i would like to make a polyphonic synth and i want to introduce a sustain function using a sustain pedal.

How would i implement this feature. i don't even know where to start?

i would like to know like in a brief sentence what must be done to achieve this, I'm not talking specifics.
i need a point in the right direction

i didn't think it was that simple.
i have to not let a not of message go unless the sustain pedal conditions are right.

I was trying all kinds of stupid thing like trying to make the sustain pedal control the release of the whole amplified sound lol
