I've been developing a patch over the past couple of months which integrates two camera inputs in the buffer_rtx.pd example, and it seems to be really taxing on my framerate. Is there any way to optimize GEM's performance/increase my fps?

I've been developing a patch over the past couple of months which integrates two camera inputs in the buffer_rtx.pd example, and it seems to be really taxing on my framerate. Is there any way to optimize GEM's performance/increase my fps?
What version are you using? I have made performance tests, and pd 0.42.5-extended works more efficient then 0.43-extended for me, for example.
I am using GEM (93.3 i think) and OSX 10.6.8
