Hello all,

Does anyone here happen to have the PeRColate library for Linux? The download link for the Pd version is broken, and the source code I've found online contains a makefile that does not compile on my computer.

I am particularly interested in an object called [munger~], although I'd like to explore the whole library as well. So if you know about it or have those files yourself, please let me know - I'd really appreciate that.

I took the lib from this post: http://forum.pdpatchrepo.info/topic/572/pd-port-of-percolate/6 and modified the Makefile (added -fPIC (64 bit) - remove 2 externals from it) and it compiled. I didn't test it.

But unfortunately the link to the second file you posted is broken (I get a 404 error), and the file percolate.pd_linux contained in the tar above is marked as link (broken) when I extract it. Do you think you could try to upload it once again?

Some more info:

• inside that tar, there are two percolate.pd_linux files. One is a very small file (28 bytes!) in the root of that tar and this is the one marked as link (broken) on my computer. The other one is inside the PeRColate_source folder, and this has a healthy size of 263 kB. But when I try to load it in Pd via [import percolate], I get:

  /home/gilberto/.pd/extra-libraries/PeRColate/percolate.pd_linux: /home/gilberto/.pd/extra-libraries/PeRColate/percolate.pd_linux: undefined symbol: metashake_tilde_setup
  [import]: can't load library in 'percolate'
  

• I then tried to compile it myself using that modified makefile you prepared (I had to remove the option -Werror from it, else it would stop the compilation due to some unused variable). I then copy the .pd_linux output to Pd's path, use [import percolate] but I get the same error as above.

It's a pity, that [munger~] object looks particularly interesting and those other physical modelling objects could be also nice. Oh well.

@gsagostinho I am currently unable to correct the error, but if you want to try yourself: rgrep "metashake_tilde_setup" ./ and remove it, do the same for terrain_tilde_setup (I can't recall the exact name). I had to remove the source (.c) in the makefile but I forgot to remove the setup call (I don't know the exact file that call this setup function).

@EEight thanks a lot. I commented out all three cases in which the words metashake and terrain appear in the .c file, and now Pd recognizes the compiled library. On the other hand, the library seems to be extremely buggy on my 64-bit Linux. Just by adding a [munger~ 3000] to a patch (without connecting it to anything) causes the sound of other objects to get glitchy. E.g.:

[import percolate]

[munger~ 3000]  <- not connected to anything!

[osc~ 440]
|
[dac~]

As soon as I delete the [munger~], the oscillator sound comes back to normal. Other abstractions do not even work, such as [bamboo~] which produces no sound at all.

Anyway, thanks a lot for all the advice EEight. I will check these abstractions once again when I have some more time. I am just afraid I will have to reinvent the wheel and construct a munger-like object for myself

An improved version of PeRColate's [munger~] named [disis_munger~] is available for Linux 32-bit and Windows here: http://ico.bukvic.net/Max/disis_munger~_latest.zip
