maybe someone has some advice or experience here, I have also checked the PD list with no good results. All the results are old or refer to solutions no longer available.
everything worked fine until a few days ago when I installed RME Fireface drivers on my machine in order to use the amazing multichannel system in my school (one of the reasons I have come here in fact). It worked well for one day. since then however, PD persistently gives two errors over and over again
"resyncing audio"
and
"separate audio device choice not supported; using sequential devices."
this interrupts and causes distortions in the audio stream as well.
Miller Puckett wrote on the PDlist a long while ago that the first error was caused by differences in the sampling rate settings between either multiple devices in use, or different settings for input and output on the same device, however, I am getting the error even with no sound card plugged in, or the one I have been using in the past with no issues. Besides, my settings are all the same for input/output both in Windows and in PD, and they are the same they have always been.
So far I have tried many things:
re-installing the RME drivers
completely uninstalling the RME drivers and reintalling PD...no RME software remains, I can be sure of it
restarting the computer, obviously, many times
resetting the sampling rates and other settings, both in pure data and in the control panel
I currently have my system in the identical configuration it was in before installing the RME drivers but I still get the errors, and the sound gets interrupted, this will not be possible with concerts...
the other problem is that PD keeps resetting its own Audio Settings panel to try and accommodate multiple outputs. This is obviously part of the problem, but it doesnt stop even after re-installing.
I am running Windows 8, PD version is current, running standard MIMO because ASIO no longer works at all (ASIO4ALL), RME drivers have been uninstalled.
I would love to know:
-
how can I stop PD from trying to change the audio settings after I set them (part of the problem seems to be that it it thinks I want multiple outputs still, but I dont understand how its possible since the device I was using is no longer associated with my system
-
how can I eliminate the re-synching audio error
-
eventually I would like to be able to use this RME soundcard with pure data, because I want to experiment with the spacialization system live for my research, and pure data is obviously a very customizable tool for that..anyone have any experience with this?
argh, so frustrated, and now i cant even play what I was playing a week ago...
