hi Ive been making a midi controller using an arduino.
I set a push switch to digital input on Arduino and write on pd like this.

[change]

[select 1]

[60]

[makenote 80 500]

[noteout 1]

Then a sound will come when I push a switch to send a signal. The switch has on/off. But sometimes a sound will also come when I release a switch... I thought to put [select 1] is enough but it doesn't work properly.
Please give any advices.

Hi qjp, although this is not a midi controller (it doesn't involve any midi data in the arduino part) it should work the way you need. Just three observations.

• Do you really need the [change] object? A digital push button gives back 0 and 1 so you just need [sel 1].
• Is the [60( a message? 'cause here is written as object [60].
• Do you really need to use Pduino? The [comport] object is more suitable for this kind of uses. Sometimes you need to connect all unused pins to ground to avoid unwanted messages using Pduino

For me its better to use pduino since my poor knowlage of pd programing. sorry for that.

BTW I put [change] out and set [sel 1]. 60 is a message.
Still there are some sound comes, when I release a switch...
Maybe the reason by bad soldering on hardware?

@qjp you need to either debounce the switch in hardware or software (arduino or pd). the most straightforward solution is to use [mapping/debounce]

A bit of self promotion here. I wrote a tutorial on Arduino programming for Pd users. You can grab it from the tutorial section of this forum. It starts from very simple projects (lighting up an LED, using one push button) and builds up in complexity ending with shift registers and multiplexers. No Firmata used.
