do you think it would need too much work?

i'm a buzz user tired of crashes,but the great matilde tracker in buzz really missed me,
so i'm trying to create something similar on pd,
but
1-cannot find a way to save patterns(i used to write trigger sequences,for playing the sample in array..)

2-I'm getting bored writing $1 $2 $3 $4....in message boxes just for write the pattern in the array

3-I'm not so sure if this work will be any useful...i'm losting FAITH on this.

have you ever created a patch like tris?

might help, but you still need to [pack] all the numbers together, I guess. This is painful. dynamic-patching (writing patches that write patches) makes it less monotonous, but is tricky (look at some of the netpd sequencers for inspiration).

3. I once made a tracker, but updating the 64*4*8 number boxes at the end of each pattern caused audio dropouts - Pd's GUI is too slow for complex sstuff, unfortunately. I lost faith, too...

Sequencers and trackers are very useful, and yes it's a lot of wrok to build one.
Several people here have written trackers, Search for some of Claudes.

Maybe the time has come to learn about lists and files, so you can build entire tracks
and load and save them.

Build it and you will learn much important things about Pd, so it will be useful to you.

did you ever get a chance to post this? I'm new to this forum but I'm curious about this as well.

maybe an external software with midiout and a virtual cable midi drivers could do some intersting solution.

I tought about ztracker (or seq24 if you need more traditionnal sequencing way) with midi yoke or maple loopback midi drivers, as a win32 solution. Something similar would work out of the box with jack routing and a tracker that handle this. Have no idea about OSX as i don't know much this os.

Any progress since this thread came up?

Grid is very small but anyway it's great.
