hi. I found a simple-counters.pd from somewhere around the forum.

It does this:

i tried to modify it so that any mentions of 20 will actually be replaced with a different number (for instance 5 or 8 (doubled, of course, as the simple-counter.pd says).

but for some reason, when i plug this count-upper-count-downer-count-upper-count-downer to something that plays a table content, it counts nicely to the top, but then promptly plays every lowering number twice, which i dont understand is that with the modification (i just tried to have a cycleamount message (5 or being sent to mod's cold inlet
and / cold inlet
and * cold inlet

and it will count up and then it will play all the notes twice while counting down.

uhh.

Ok, I ditched the whole lot and simplified it to this:

it works, and cycles up and down and up and down and does exactly what needs to be done!
