I can get into edit mode, select an object but I cannot drag anything around. Anyone else having this issue?

Perhaps this is a.plist issue? I'm on Mac OSX 10.8.5.

I had this problem once and it was because there was no audio interface selected. as soon as I selected audio input and output in preferences it went away. bizarre, I know
