Hello everyone!
I'm an italian girl who's going to be graduated. In fact I just need to build a project in pd to finish my studies. And this is the problem: I'm not able at all. Even if I studied the syntax of this language, the way to build "serious" things with it is out of reach for me.
I need to build a patch for this proposal: loading videos from the webcam of a mobile or an i-pad and change them into music. The connection between music and images should be strong (people should understand there's a connection without reading it in the description).
I really don't know how to start and I'm quite desperate. in my brain pd is just an ensemble of squares and lines, if you know what i mean.
Can anyone help me? Maybe just build a basical patch on wich i can work later. Or maybe advises.

that's actually quite an advanced project! - especially for someone with no pd experience. is there any other project you could work on?

Yesterday I talked with my teacher -heart to heart- and he said me to start from little thing. I'm actually trying to change audio in video. I have a MIDI keyboard and I have to change the notes into squares of different colours. I'm already working at it and I can say the first part of the patch looks quite perfect (let me be proud of it!). The problem is when I start to use gem objects. It doesn't render anything. there's just the gemwin, always black (even if I send it a message "color 1 1 1"). I'm starting to think that it's a problem of "entire" gem and not of my patch. Even the tutorials don't work!!!

why don't you post your patch here so somebody can check what the problem is...

Ok! that's it! I discovered today that the problem with Gem was about rendering. But I'm still asking myself how to finish it, for example how to make different gemhead in the same time.
