I have a patch where I take polyphonic MIDI input (with [poly]) and I change it into different squares of different colours (in fact, I have 8 voices maximum with [poly], so 8 squares. The colours are 12, like the notes of a chromatic scale). The order MIDI note-colour should be precise. I did an abstraction for the voice (so that I have one abstraction and I use it 8 time) and inside the abstraction I have another one for selecting the colour (with the object [select]). But there's a problem! In fact, the patch shows the colours randomly! Where's the mistake?

    Hello,
I'm actually wondering how to open a patch. I've tried the object [openpatch], but it doesn't work. In the help patches of pd I can see that this object accept messages, but in fact when I try to send a message with the name of the patch to open, nothing happens.
I've also tried with the internal message "open namefile.pd" but it's the same thing. I can guess I have to add something about the path where the patches are saved, but I can't understand what exactly.
Any advise? I can tell you that I have put the patches I want to open this way on the desktop.

    Good morning everybody,
I have different patches that make the same thing, except for some details. These details should be decided by an initial control (for example, in C, it would be "if"). Any ideas to do something like that in pd???

    Thank you

    Good evening,
I have already made a patch that takes single midi notes and change them into coloured squares. Now my teacher asked me to detect chords, too. I know in maxlib there is hte object chord that does this, but my wish would be to have chords and melody at the same time. In a simple, intuitive way: I have a midi keyboard and the right hand plays one note (the melody) while the left one plays 3 or 4 notes (the chords). Is it possible to do something like that? I've tried using "chord", but I don't think it works very well.

    Thank you

    Hello everyone!
I'm an italian girl who's going to be graduated. In fact I just need to build a project in pd to finish my studies. And this is the problem: I'm not able at all. Even if I studied the syntax of this language, the way to build "serious" things with it is out of reach for me.
I need to build a patch for this proposal: loading videos from the webcam of a mobile or an i-pad and change them into music. The connection between music and images should be strong (people should understand there's a connection without reading it in the description).
I really don't know how to start and I'm quite desperate. in my brain pd is just an ensemble of squares and lines, if you know what i mean.
Can anyone help me? Maybe just build a basical patch on wich i can work later. Or maybe advises.

    I thank everyone !!!

Hi, I'm quite new of pd.
I did a project where I render squares of different colors from midi notes. I mean: when I play a DO it renders a blue square, when I play a RE it renders a red square and so on.
Now my question is: if I would like to render different geos from different notes? For example, if I play a DO it renders a square but if I play a RE it renders a circle. Is this possible with gem?? Does gem have the power of doing it?

Excuse-me for my english, but I'm italian :-)

I thank you all, after looking at the patch a bit of time, I saw that the mistake was -in fact- about [route]. I didn't understand very well the behaviour of this object, so I connected the [mod 12] to the velocity and not to the pitch. Now that I changed this it works much better!!!

    Thank you by heart

    :-)

And oh! I have 3 other patches that should work the same way, changing the couples note-colour.
