i am looking at the examples but i just cant understand how i would make a 512 band pitch shift filter?
i am looking at the re synthesis example ?

How to make a fft filter

i don't know. Are you?
i think the phase vocoder model is the closest one for pitch shifting, but i'm not sure if it can be tweaked to work on individual bands. However, if you substitute the 'transpose' send value with a [tabsend~] and then the receive value with a [tabreceive~], it MIGHT be possible. would probably sound interesting if you get it to work!

will how do i know what splits the bands in 512 parts?
i can do this with a lot of eq filters but that would take a long time and i would not have a hanning windowand would sound different with out it?

I07.phase.vocoder is pretty much what you want. If you use an FFT size of 1024, you have 512 bands (below Nyquist).

i am not understanding the band split can some on explain it ?

I just posted a patch that I got working on this. Topic is FFT Pitch Shift here
