Interesting project, for embedding audio patch directly in web page.

very cool

i KNEW i had seen this before... i tried telling someone about this, and he called bullsh*t on it, and i couldn't find this page anywhere to show him...
this really does open up a slew of possibilities that current web plugins, like flash, are incapable of. flash is good for animations and some things (see bit-101.com), but according to my flash-savvy roommate, it's not good for (interactive) audio at all.

"Due to the nature of Pd there are some serious security isues related to the plug-in that are not solved yet.
Pd features like file access and network access can be used by a malicious patch.
We assume no responsability for any damage caused by the plug-in."ouch!

If you think about it, it's not going to be "solved" anytime soon. Pd is a way to run arbitary code and the plugin is an interface to allow a remote host to run arbitary code on your machine. If you don't trust who you're connecting to all bets are off. The same goes for net-pd. You can thwart the obvious attacks by removing your [shell] object However, within a limited community I wouldn't worry about it too much, or use pure:dyne to do your network related Pd stuff. Incidentaly - that's why I almost never run JavaScript.
Use the Source.

hardoff, it looks like that's only a problem if you have file access and network access IN the patch... if it's all just audio is it still open to exploitation?
me and my roommate are going to start playing with this, see if we can't make a flash to control a pd patch running in the background via this plugin... then people could just go to a page and play with your patch! this really opens up a whole new world of interactive web media...
