For our new performance/installation we have the idea to let visitors (maximum 3 at the same time) wear wireless headphones to discover a specified route in the installation. Each one will be monitored and a controller (1 for each visitor) will decide what sound will be sent to that visitor.

Does anyone have experience with wireless headphones. Before bying/renting we want to be sure that the transmission is as good as possible and, since we want to have 3 active at the same time, that we can adjust the send/receive frenquecies. Does this exist?

RF is dicey, and other options seem pretty pricey and can still be interfered with way to easily. I'll play devil's advocate and say that you could do this in a completely different fashion. Local MP3 players could be outfitted with zigbee modules and scheduled by a control machine, for instance.

How about trying to work with bluetooth ear-sets meant for mobile telephones?
