I am using PD to activate playlists with reed switchs on a breadboard, running into an arduino. I had this simple bit of PD for 1 switch working, but my mac crashed, and upon re-creating it gives me this error message when i press the switch;

error: readsf: start requested with no prior 'open'

Can anyone please help? its part of my final year project and its due soon!!!

You got yourself a good old fashioned determinism problem. The message "open $.wav" must be sent to readsf~ before the message "1". The way you have it programmed does not specify which goes first, so everytime your restart PD it will decide for you. Sometimes it will work, other times it won't. Use a trigger object to tell PD which goes first. Check out trigger's help.

i tried this by puttiing in the trigger like you recommended, and it didnt work. However, whether i added it correctly is another matter completely. I also figured adding a dela to sending 1 would mean open$ wav was sent first, but when i added a delay i got the error message "no method for bang". Any idea's?
