SSSAD it's a nice way for collecting presets.
I think this is an important correction of sssad save module to post.
I use patches with a sssad module for each abstraction (many).
In the main project window I create a subpatch where to collect several sssad messages (messages created inside "pd datastore"), during a performance I can load many presets.

Sometimes is useful to change only certain settings and leave others unchanged, thus I write sssad messages with only the commands I need.
The "sssad.pd" I propose you, doesn't send messages when there's no relevant command to perform for his "parent".

Well, thanks for producing a tutorial on this. I'm googling around but can't now even find the 'original' version of SSSAD.

The problem with your tutorial is that it only explains how to create a preset for one control item. then you root around what seems like so many (seemingly) unrelated pd patches. and you load up start-here.pd to find that the code for it's version of preset handling is different and it loads and saves to file, which wasn't explained in your tutorial, so after further digging, I'm none the wiser, and I still wouldn't know what pd patches exactly I need to copy over to new projects in order to have this feature

here I learned to use sssad and if I did, you can do the same and better

then,

1. if you want to save and load (<- much important) presets only for a selection of parameters you have

2. if you want create multiple presets

read my tutorial and try to use my version of s-abstraction, which is the same to the original except for one or two patches

new to this forum and to pd~, i just submited a post in the "technical issue" forum about getting lost in saving presets, sssad, RRAD, datastore, qlists, etc, and it seems you guys here know a lot about it ...
i threw a quick look on enrico's tutorial for SSSAD, but it seems way past my present knowledge. could you tell me where i could start my research to understand all this (is sssad an external object? a way of organising abstractions?)? i like to understand my patches, so i guess i got a long way to go, but it would really help....

Hi, I use sssad a lot and I find it very useful.

But when I use many save modules on my program, some of them suddenly stop working and I can find this line in my .txt files:

\\\\\\\$1/kill.SSAD/kill;

Is there any kind of limitation in the number of presets that can be saved in one file?
I have 135 lines...

so stubborn i still don't use ssad, but have my own centralised preset saving system using arrays (so you can save .txt or not). from what i've gathered there shouldn't be a limit to the number of lines though...
if my "alternative" system might interest you let me know and i'll post an example in a machine.

not really an alternative, never tried sssad in fact. just a preset saving system based on panel saving (got the idea from this forum, boonier i think) which works out for the moment.

here posted an example. save a new patch in the same download folder and create an object "mud xxx", where xxx is the unit's name.

feedback would be great. is sssad much easier to build?

just a quick note: The version of sssad that your enhancements are based on is pretty old - the current versions have various new features that deal with local saving and setting specific keys only. Local saving can be achieved by adding a $0 as second argument to a sssad object, e.g. [sssad key $0]. And then there are "setonly" and "saveonly" messages to the sssad-object available to manage specific keys. I admit the latter aren't yet properly documented in the help file ...

Frank, it would be great if you could post a downloadable version of sssad somewhere online (maybe footils.org?). I realize you put it up on SVN, but I think in general people who aren't programmers or don't compile code on their own don't really use SVN. Googling for sssad usually leads to the old ones hosted by Chris McCormick. Or some athletic school in Saskatoon.
