Hi all

I'm trying to learn how to use my webcam in puredata, so I create a pix_video object, then I go in the pix_video help menu and in the help window there is 2 patch, one with Gemwin and the other one with pix_video which should display video from my webcam but when I toggle it on, in the main window there is an error :

error: pix_videoDS: Could not start graph playback, hr 0x8007001F

I tried to google it, and didn't find anything clear about it. (I read something about it on the microsoft site, they said that it can be solved by installing Windows Media Coder and AmCap, I did it but nothing changed )

So, Does anyone know something about this error ?

for information I'm running on XP (sp2) with DX9sdk and my webcam is a
Creative Live! cam Optia AF

i had this problem with Pd extended 0.39.2
because it contained a beta version of GEM i think ,
download stable GEM ver 0.90 at http://gem.iem.at/releases
and try
gemhead->pix_video->pix_texture->square 4

I too am having problems: I constructed like the patch here and i open a gemwin and i get a black screen nothing more nothing ever

Gem .91 doesn't recognize any device at all (error: failed opening device: '/dev/video1') and "device 0" message gives me nothing....

Gem .90 gives me a brief moment of hope in the PD window but fails to show anything ... the PD window at one point said UCview (or some such referent to my webcam) and brightness and colors however I can't recreate and I'm still seeing a black gemwin

i also tried where my webcam ought to be /dev/video0 and i still get nothing on either...

Asus EEEPC 2.6.22-14 realtime kernel Ubuntu 7.10 pd extended and pd vanilla with gem .91 & .90 respectively
