I am trying to figure out the video tracking abilities of Pure Data for an exam thats due next week. I found some german tutorials translated to english Above is the patch for connecting my webcam, basically create, 1 is supposed to open my webcam, my problem is that pressing the message box opens up a window that is all white. I suspect this is because it opens up in Pure Data vanilla, which does not support GEM, but I am not sure, the above patch is in PurrData, does anyone know if this is what causes the problem? If so does anybody know how to fix it? Below is the console and errors I get from pressing the create message box.

@StudentScaredOfDebt I also use Windows, but not Purr Data..... and I have the same problem with my MacBook Pro camera.
You can use "Reactivision" ...... but that is probably not allowed for your project.

Download this...... https://puredata.info/downloads/extended-view-toolkit to a folder on your desktop....... add the path to it to your Pd "preferences"... "Paths".......
Then add this file.....file.zip ........."03b_ev_example_livecam.pd" to the folder and open it.
You might get the camera in the GEM window when you click the green "create" button.

I still have not worked out why this patch works where all that I have ever made fail.....
There are no executables or drivers in ExtendedView...... I think it has something to do with window size and the order in which messages are sent to the camera driver to set it up.....

Thanks for your reply, yes I need to produce a patch, I tried the above patch from my OP in Pure Data Extended and that worked out all my problems, I am using windows so maybe it will be different for you if you have a mac. I need to produce a patch , but thanks again for all the files and reading material it will help me out a lot!

@StudentScaredOfDebt Yes, I use windows on a mac. I think it's the Mac camera causing my problems.
Chapter 5 (and onwards maybe) will tell you all you need to know.
I recommend saving a copy of the PDF on your computer....... it has disappeared from the web in the past.
