Hi,
i am trying to run patches containing Gem-objects in Pd-l2ork 2.4.6 Linux 64-bit
and get many "couldn't create" errors.

Starting PD it states:

libdir_loader: added 'Gem' to the global objectclass path

the folder
/extras/Gem/
exists

the /examples/ don't work
and renaming the Gem-objets with [Gem/objectname] doesn't work neither.

[gemwin] is successfully created,
but inside are all the broken objects.

here are two error-messages out of many similar ones, as an example:

 GLdefine GL_STENCIL_BUFFER_BIT
... couldn't create
 GEMglMatrixMode GL_MODELVIEW
... couldn't create

Did someone make it work?

What are the contents of /usr/lib/pd-l2ork/extra/Gem?

My experience with other libraries is that I have call the objects like this:

[libraryname/objectname]

But no luck with Gem doing so, the objects are still red.

@lacuna Try opening a console and starting Purr Data by typing pd-l2ork and then <Enter>.

What Gem-related output do you see on the console (terminal console, not Purr Data console)?

I am used to open Pd like this.
For this whole session terminal output is:

that warning is from startup on there

Try starting Purr Data like this: pd-l2ork -nrt -noprefs -nostdpath

Then enter this in an object box:

[/usr/lib/pd-l2ork/extra/Gem/Gem.pd_linux]

What happens in the console after you type that in the object box and instantiate it (e.g., click on an empty part of the canvas)?

nada.

in PD-console: "couldn't create."
Nothing in terminal

Ok, how about trying this in an object box:

[/usr/lib/pd-l2ork/extra/Gem/Gem]

still in the same pd-instance:
again the same nothing

and that folder does not exist, as it is not listed in the pastebin-link above

Also in the example 01.redSquare.pd
(PD-console output higher in this thread)
I can not find the object [color] on my computer ...

starting pd without flags:

with flags like this:
pd-l2ork -nrt -noprefs -nostdpath

the same output as without flags

Puppy Linux Xenial-64

As far as I know there is no permission-issue:

Puppy-Linux doesn't use Sudo or anything.
I am root and there is a special "Spot"-folder, for online applications running as spot, with less permissions.
Pd is not in spot, and the Gem files neither. So spot has nothing to do with this.
I assume, that there are no permission-conflicts.

What should happen creating the objects containing the paths?
Should I try installing the newer Purr Data version?? Or Gem?

Could be the 64-bit an issue?
I read in other threads Gem was made for 32-bit?
Do you have it running with 64-bit?

Do you assume that the distro is the issue?

Could someone please give me a hint, what could be the problem with Gem?
Other libraries are working.

Is Gem running on your 64-bit Linux-distro with Purr-Data?
