zexy allows comparisons as in the example below

[phasor 500]
|
[>~ 0.55] ... this is zexy
|
[bp~ 5000 12]

Is there any way to that in Vanilla (or use zexy in vanilla without loading the whole zexy)?

I'm trying to do this in pd 0.48 (running directly from the directory; not installed)

[zexy/>~ 0.55] does not work (other zexy objects work that way... the zexy directory is under "extra")

I've also tried the following...

|/
[snapshot~]
|
[>~ 0.55]
|
[sig~]
|
[bp~ 5000 12]

it kind of works, but it does not perform the way it does in pd extended.

Any help would be appreciated.

In Pd's search path you need to define zexy's directory, and in startup you need to put zexy to load on start up. Otherwise you can do the same with [declare].

finally I opted for mod's proposal, and it works very nicely (I had to modify it slightly, not sure why it did not work right away).
So this is how it looks like.

Is it still true that expr~ is under a different license? This thread is an entire 9 years old: https://forum.pdpatchrepo.info/topic/2783/is-expr-a-vanilla-object but this would be an issue for any scoundrel using vanilla for the BSD license.

You could also make a tiny table with two values (0, 0) and (1,1)

use a tabread~ without interpolation

Then

[phasor 500]
|
[+~ 0.55]
|
[tabread~ twovaluetable]

That will spit out a 1 for 55% of the phasor cycle. If you wanted to make it more rugged, you could use a wrap~ or clip~ as appropriate.

I still avoid expr just out of habit.
