Hello people.
I was working on my project in PD Extended. Everything seemed to work fine. When i open the project again, i cound not select my audio interface asio driver (M audio Profire 26) and if i could, it did not played correct , the sound was freezing. I unistall and reinstall PD extended an still it does not work properly and crashes very often. The audio interface works perfectly with any other software (even with the regular pure data).

Another thing that confuses me is that that project i was working on, and a couple οf others, was somekind of hidden. What i mean is that i could open them from puredata (the had a lock symbol) but when i was searching them in their folder, they were not there.

Any ideas?

What operating system are you using?

My guess would be some Microsoft windows variant.

Pd Extended is a dead distribution now. It is being replaced by PurrData. Extended was probably never extensively tested or debugged on the post-XP windows versions (which are buggy enough all by themselves) and never will be. There was recently a report on here of a similar problem with Windows Vista (why they were even using Vista to begin with I have no idea).

did your computer crash?
sounds like multiple problems at work:
the locked files sound like a kind of safety mechanism to avoid corruption
locked files on windows (if you are on windows) can usually be unlocked the same way they can be hidden or unhidden. just right-click, then properties and down at the bottom of the properties windows are some options

you could try to re-install pd, which is simple enough, just download vanilla
then use deken under "find externals" to get the libraries you need and update your patch. there are tutorials on the forum for how to do this.

otherwise check your audio settings and make sure what is in the pd audio settings dialog matches the settings for your audio interface

Well i Just opened the project with the Pure Data (not the enxtended) and it is working properly. I have some issues but nothing major. I think that i will stick to pure data and forget about the enxtended version
