Does anybody know how to stop comments randomly appearing in PD. Often if I add a comment, save the patch, and reopen the patch there will be a new comment placed on top of my comments. I delete the comment and save but it often reappears. I assume it happens to others as it has been happening in my PD patches for years. So there is a comment I have written and then after I save the patch a mysterious new default comment appears obscuring my comment.

Sounds like you're only deleting the content of the comment and not the comment object itself.

When the mysterious new comment appears, do this:

1. Drag it to an empty area of the patch.
2. Click on a different empty area of the patch, and drag a selection rectangle over the default comment. It should now be selected.
3. Click <Backspace>. Now the comment should be deleted for good.

It's an easy problem to run into. Empty comments should probably default to showing the word "comment" for this reason.

I addressed this in Purr Data recently by drawing a dotted box around comments when in "Edit" mode.

So even if you get an empty comment you end up with a small dotted box.
