What I current have is a playstation teamcatz dual-pedal with a logitech dual action game controller inside wired to capture the pedal movements.

(note: could never get the ps serial-to-usb to work for me)...

So my question I think is this...

Am I pursuing the best route by having two pedals instead of one?

Pierre at Guitar Extended made an expression pedal (the design of which is really cool and most of the parts I already have and I may end up making that) but am wondering am I better off with my two?

Currently I have three knobs for each pedal assigned to be controlled and I pass the "set" value for one of those three (preset) parameters to the right to send it up to max from that selected point and then the left pedal sends it down to min for that selected point.

(In my case the max and min are 1 and 0).

Feel like two pedals is probably better. But not clear on which direction to go.

But that's largely because I can't go down AND up with only one pedal.

I have heard tell there are non-homemade guitar pedals which have both a toe And a heel control to them. Which would really be what I want.

Anyone know of game controllers that do that? Lots of thrift stores around me and I could roll what I already know to setup it.

Do you have an example of your code, and when you release one of the pedals does it return to a default state (i.e Momentary or latching)? I can't really tell from the picture.

Here is the patch I am currently using.

From one inlet it gets which of the 3 ccs to use and from the 2nd inlet it gets the current value for that parameter. It then uses that value as the up/down breakpoint for the two pedals (as represented with the sliders), left=down, right=up from that initial value.

note: the game controller is Physically connected to the pedals, NOT electronically (when the pedals move it moves the joysticks). (I know very very clunky but it does work and has inspired me to look into getting an arduino.)

Also, just fyi:

I have also sort of figured out how to "extended" Guitar Extendeds lego expression pedal to be a heel-toe pedal: just add a potentiometer and make the mid-point of the pedal the pivot point.

Unfortunately i don't think i can help with this without either having the pedal in front of me i can't help as i'm not sure on the set up and how things are connected.

Some one elses may come along and be able to help. Sorry.

No sweat. I am getting this worked out.

What I want/ed to be able to do was go up (right) or down (left) on my expression pedals and yet when I release it save its position i.e. not go back down to "0".

Thus enters: "Cruse Control", a button for my left foot to click to Set the current pedal value.

I am pretty sure that is going to do the trick.
