I'm tinkering with an enttec dmx usb pro.

    But:
Is there any way to make this thingie talk with pure data?

I couldn't find any way to do dmx with pure data whatsoever (Would be nice to send dmx over ethernet, so I could fire up the entire theater's lightshow with different universes).

I found some old post, but the dmx-pd connection seems to be lost in time.
Please tell me there's some hope :)

I'm making a cheap midi controller from an old mouse. (Mac. Making it a footswitch for ableton live).

I'm using the hid object and it recognises my modded mouse.
But while writing the patch for the modded mouse behaves as a mouse (right clicks, left clicks, ...). Pretty normal, but is it possible to ignore the original behaviour?
Is it possible to make Pd the only program accepting the hid inpulses while all other software ignores the device?

I found an application called junxion that does this kind of stuff, but it's expensive and I don't know if it's able to ignore the original behaviour of the device.

I cannot find my problem here and I'm not seeing the solution.

A bang is connected to a toggle. When this toggle receives the bang it needs to de engaged for a certain time.

So I bang the thing and the toggle switches "on" for like 1 second. After this time it goes back to "off".

    Did I miss anything obvious?

I'm pretty new to this program and just started my first "serious" patch (as in: schoolproject :)

-First question is to proof how new I am to this program. How do I use a toggle inbetween my patch? Is there a way to use a toggle like you use a lightswitch? I have a metro followed by a counter outputting a stream of numbers. Is there a way to stop the stream when the toggle is off? When I would turn the toggle on the stream can just go through.

-Second question: is there a way to make some toggles behave like radio buttons? The things you see in polls (or questionnaires). Some toggles, but only one can be selected at the same time.

The problems are situated in the clock and pattern switcher in the attached file.

I'm new to pd and this forum, but I spended some time searching this place and cannot seem to find an answer for my problem. (or it just doesn't do the trick for me)

In one of the paches I'm working with I open a video with [pix_film]. I use this video as a texture on a rectangle.
Now I want to mask this video (or the textured rectangle) with another rectangle so I can mask my video real-time.

I tried some masking objects, and used movies and pictures as a mask, but nothing seems to work.

Which objects do I need or is it possible to show me a demo patch doing this?

Maybe I'm stating something you already know, but just to make sure.
    You cannot hear midi.
It's a protocol driving something else which will produce audio.
You can connect audio to speakers, but not midi.

There's probably a reason for your current workflow but processing can handle fft rather good (no need for pd and osc). More information can be found in the minim library (it also does beatdetection, how cool is that :).
    http://code.compartmental.net/tools/minim/

Now I'm thinking about it, you're probably right to have some pd involvement because I don't know how well processing works with different microphones and stuff.

Personally this sort of thing is the main reason why I'm using processing and pure data and switch between both programs. At the moment I prefer using processing to do the webcam, motion detection part. Osc provides pd with the parameters from processing and does the sound and other interaction part.

If you would like to see how it works I can post some sketches and patches later.

But I know some people have figured out a way to motion detection completely in pd and I'm also really interested how it works.

I'm only working with the mac so some of these things will be different on other platforms:
In essence jack and soundflower are doing the same thing. They create virtual audio connections between applications. You could make a new virtual audio connection between live and pd. You need to route Live's audio out to jack or soundflower. In pure data you will be able to select an audio in (source) from the Jack or soundflower application (instead of your normal audio in like your soundcard and core audio).
I used both some years ago and they worked perfectly. I would start with checking leopard compatibility when choosing between the applications.

IAC is used for making a virtual midi channel. You make a new virtual midi channel and connect them with the new channel. The IAC thing works pretty good. If you trigger the signals in pd you can make a midi mapping in ableton live. Pretty straightforward and very flexible. The IAC thing can be found under applications/utilities/audio midi setup.

Edit: I just started reading your post again. Why not dropping live at all? You can easily read the messages from your external controller in pd.

    Maybe this post can help:

    http://puredata.hurleur.com/sujet-2065-joystick-midi-patch

I'm still experiencing problems with the technique. The devices still behave like the original device ( my modded mouse (http://www.zerolmzero.be/1.1/2008/08/hid-mouse-stompbox/) is still a mouse sending midi at the same time. But I still need to find a way to kill the original mouse functions).

Another forum which I'm following to find the answers:
