I am a newcomer to PD.
Im trying to use a ieee 1394 6 pin firewire Point Grey video camera in PD extended and Gem on windows 7 or XP.

I need to use this type of camera as i need full manual control over exposure and focus.

I have looked through other related posts but they are for Linux and the solutions are a bit beyond my scope of knowledge.

I have looked at the help file for pix_video for listing devices and PD does not recognise the camera.

Does anyone have any experience with using firewire cameras with PD and Gem on Windows 7 or XP

hi, im working on a motion detector using the pix_movement object. Im trying to find a way of automating the threshold value of the second inlet. Presently i am having to use an arduino and a photoresistor to measure the light value of the scene, the analogue values are then sent into PD to dynamically adjust the threshold value in order to compensate for changing light conditions.

Is there a way to find the luminance of the webcam feed within pd

yeah thanks that seems to work. will need some more testing to make sense of the values and how they relate to ambient light levels
