    Hello, pure data people!

Well, it appears that my Dell Inspiron just crapped out, so I'm probably going to need a new laptop for all of my audio stuff. As a reference, I was running PD-extended, (forget which number) and SuperCollider 3 just fine on my machine, and that's what I'll be running for the next year or so. I might also be getting ProTools LE at some point, but that won't be for a bit.

So here's my dilemma; I only have about $500 bucks to spend, and I need a new laptop by the end of the summer. Any suggestions out there? I much, much prefer machines that are built for Windows, but I'm open to anything that works for me.

    Thanks,
    Aaron Hynds

    Hello, one and all!

This is my first post on the pure data forum, and I wish it was under better circumstances, but what can you do...

Ever since I installed Pure Data on my computer, I have not been able to get a decent sound quality from the program. I've reinstalled audio drivers and such, yet I still am not able to get a good quality tone. Even creating a simple A-440 oscillator tone doesn't work: the sound I get back seems to be lagging. The weird thing is, this distortion only seems to happen with pure data. Here's a sample of what I hear out of the program:

Sorry for the poor image quality, I didn't have the proper capture settings in place. If anyone out there would know of a solution to this problem, I'd appreciate hearing about it!

    Thanks,
    Aaron H.
