Okay, sorta kinda PD/GEM related, but not necessarily. Does anyone here have any experience with digital signage? If so, what sort of rig would you recommend if building from scratch? Lets say the system needs to pump full 1080p to an HDMI display at 30-60fps (mostly 2D and simple 3D visuals, some 1080p video content, no crazy effects), have a constant internet connection, no sound, and must be on either 24-7 or during business hours.

I'm trying to print/display some text read from a text file; problem is the text is written with commas, so lines break where they shouldn't. Is there a way I can treat the comma as a character within a message/symbol?

Hey all, hope I'm posting this in the right place. I'm playing with making controls in PD that manipulate Quartz Compositions in various ways, communicating via OSC with the mrpeach patches. I've noticed that whenever I'm changing values on something within PD, say a slider for instance, the value I get in QC occasionally jumps to 0. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks!

    Hey all,

I'm experimenting with some various Midi controllers on my Debian system, and I wanted to know if there's a way to view all the different controls and their output? For example, if I had a keyboard connected via USB and the system recognized it, I'd want to see a listing of all the triggers, sliders and knobs it had, plus the values they currently were outputting. Is this possible? Thanks.

I'm trying to use pix_movie and pix_film to try out video playback in GEM, but every time I do it I get an error saying it can't decode the video. I've tried a couple different formats, and none have worked (one said there was no quicktime support, the other said it couldn't decode MPEG3). Any suggestions?

(I'm running on Debian Etch, btw.)

    Thanks.

    Hey everybody, a n00b here.

I'm playing around with GEM and I'm trying to make an object spin around on its own. Right now I put a patch together with a counter that is based around metro. Can anyone tell me how to get the int value, once it reaches 360, to go back to zero? Thanks.

Okay, nvm, I figured it out.

For those curious, I fixed the issue by restricting the frequency at which the signals were sent. My slider output is sent to the right inlet of a [f] and a metro is attached to the left. Then the outlet of [f] is sent to [send /test $1(, which is connected to packOSC, etc.
