Hey guys,
I'm trying to get started with Pure Data, but so far it's not going so well since the application won't start!
I downloaded v 0.44 , and tried to run it on mac os x 10.8.3. Basically it bounces in the dock for a few seconds and then fails silently.
Any idea why this is happening ? Do i need to install any specific third-party library in order for it to work ?
Please let me know.
Regards,

I FIXED IT!!!
Turns out it was a problem with my hosts file (/etc/hosts)
Somehow 'localhost' was not pointing to 127.0.0.1 (don't even ask me why...) and therefore trying to run pd from the command line returned "WARNING: connect to pd failed, retrying port localhost:5400."Details about this issue here: http://codelab.fr/2875

Seriously guys, anybody can help me
it still isn't working for me.
- For info i upgraded to 10.8.4, same issue;
- I tried the different tips on this forum such as deleting org.puredata.* stuff in the states folder, but those files are not there because the app never launched;
- Also tried the nasty trick with tethering your iphone as modem via bluetooth, same result;
- Also, if i try to launch the app and monitor it using fseventer, i notice that the app goes directly to 'terminated' status;
- I tried fixing disk permisions -> same result;
- I tried to create a new , local admin account on my mac -> same result;
I don't know what to do anymore. Please people, any suggestion is more than welcome!

Any ideas
I tried to install X11, I tried to download the extended version. Same results.
It works perfectly on my macbook air running 10.7.5, but somehow it just won't launch on my macbook pro running 10.8.3. -

And as an extra info, I chose the 'vanilla' version not the extended one.
