I had some trouble getting this patch to work, as well. After some digging, I found that the "mux" shorthand for "multiplex" doesn't work. I had to replace the three [mux~ 1 2 3 4] with [multiplex~ 1 2 3 4], and it works fine.

Great job with the patch. I've been looking for something similar.
