Hi folks!
I'm working on a patch for a performance, where I need to record the actor and playback the recorded video file.
Hard- and Software:
Working on Mac OSX 10.6.8, using PD extended 0.42.5, some USB-cameras for motion detecting and a SD-firewire cam for recording the actor.
(Quicktime and other video codecs are updated as I'm working as a video editor aswell.)I use pix_record to write a .mov-file to disc. And here's already the problem I never had before:
The parent window says:GEM: Start rendering
recordQT: filename '/Users/...filepath.../TEST.mov'
recordQT: using BGRA
recordQT: setup done
recordQT: movie written to /Users/...filepath.../TEST.movBGRA is of course wrong and the colors are wrong and the file is horizontally flipped, too.
I tried out several codecs (Animation, REDCODE, None, jpeg, H.264) and of course I tried to switch it off and on again....Feel free to use my attached test-patch.
Thanks a lot!

Call for Participation
sound artists, musicians, Europeans by choice or fate
ANTHEMITY – A participative installation about the Anthem of Europe
Europe, who or what are you? A place of multicultural exchange, of cross-fertilisation? Cradle of human rights and democracy? Or just a bureaucratic monster, threatening national sovereignty, and quite pointless in view of globalisation? Is Europe as a political amalgamation paying attention to social aspects? Where will this lead to?
Utopian Europe, as a region of cohabitation, is deep-rooted in symbols. Symbols that manifest the supra-national merging: a common currency, a common fag and a common Anthem of Europe, the Prelude from “Ode to the Joy”, Beethoven's 9th Symphony. Referring to the unspoken motto: „All humans will become brothers”.
Our daily life is already using the possibilities of the European Union: we can travel around, sell and buy items, settle and work wherever we want. With a minimum of bureaucratic efort. The European Union as a step forward to a pacifstic and democratic World Union? Or is Brussels a symbol of the post-democratic society, where economics are the new sovereigns?Somewhere in between, the inhabitants of Europe have to position themselves. The installation ANTHEMITY focuses on the anthem and asks to what extent an European identity might be discovered. For that reason, it is necessary to involve the inhabitants of Europe:
All of you – those who have found a home in the European Union, and those of you still looking for a home in the EU, take the European Anthem and inscribe yourself into it. Deconstruct it. Take parts of it, recomplete it, inject missing items or moods... make your own interpretation!ANTHEMITY is a stage and soundboard for your version. In this project, several speakers will be arranged in a room. You will find several versions announced here later on. Some as a sketch, other ones as a detailed documentation.
As ANTHEMITY is the master's thesis of Philipp Weber in European Media Studies at the University of Potsdam and the University of Applied Science Potsdam, it is not possible at the moment to come up with too many details.
But pd is used for all installations and the patches will be released in this forum and on the website as soon as I'm allowed to.Be part of it from now on and send your track to: http://www.dropitto.me/anthemity (password: imeu)

Hi there,
I have a very basic question about netsend /netreceive (as it does not not work on my test-setting).
The aim: I'm working on an installation with 28 mono speakers, connected to computers. On bang, they have to start playing pre-recorded audiofiles.
The idea is to use [netsend Host_IP PortNumber] at my hostcomputer and [netreceive PortNumber 1] at all clients.
As long as Host and Client 1 are on the same machine, it's all fine. The problem:
In my test-network with two computers (it works for several months: two mac osx, pd extended, already connected via lan-gigabit-switch, sharing same subnetmask and static ip-adresses) Client 2 (not running the Host) does not react.I tried as seen in all helpfiles [netsend PortNumber 1] (as it works for Client 1): no reaction.
I tried to define the host-ip by inserting [netsend Host_IP PortNumber 1]: error: bad arguments for message 'netreceive' to object 'objectmaker' ... couldn't create. What is the trick to let pd connect between two computers?
Thanks in advance,

For this we are looking for your position!
Artistic and theoretic perspectives on and examinations of the detail, which will be presented in Berlin in June 2011. With pictures, thoughts, sound or gestures you can add your detail to EMERGEANDSEE 2011...Call for entries/papers:

/ If you like it short: festival topic 2011 is "En Détail". The call for
entries is here: http://bit.ly/hDhtOu //Dear friends of EMERGEANDSEE!
after we have sucessfully established our new media arts festival concept
this year, we've been busy making plans for May 2011, when short films,
audio/visual exhibition and lectures are going to meet a Berlin audience
again. The festival topic for 2011 will be: En Détail.
We thought the Detail to be a small but strong unit in our everyday
perception, thinking and creating. The philosophical fascination with
Micro-/Macrocosm, optical tools and artistic techniques have a long
history. Today, where most digital stuff surrounding us consists of huge
amounts pixels and samples, the obsession with the tiny details has
probably even increased. We want more megapixels, higher sampling
rates, higher FPS, slower slow motion, shorter tweets, so we can read
faster, zoom in further, investigate more closely.
On the other hand: We always need the big picture. We look forward to gathering artistic and theoretical views on the Détail of
people from all around the world in order to present them at the Berlin
Event in May 2011.Our call for entries goes out to anyone creating images, thoughts, sounds
or objects that could add their detail to EMERGEANDSEE 2011!You can find the full call for entries on our website:

So I kept on research and I found out a work around and a solution:
- The flipped image has to be flipped back again. A work around that has to be done.
- For the BGRA-RGBA-color fail, use pix_yuv -> pix_record.

Indeed. And I keep on working on that. The premiere at Berlin-based www.locht43.de was a good start. Hope to receive some new anthems before the next installation. So the soundscape of Europe becomes more audible.
