Hope someone can help me.

When I run pd.exe, no windows appear. It seems that nothing happened, but in the process manager, two new processes started: pd.exe and wish84.exe (process list screenshot attached)

I am running Windows Vista . I tried both pd-extended and the basic vanilla PD versions and the same problem in both cases (i.e. no pure data windows appear, but processes are started in the background)

Here are some of the thoughts I had about what might be causing the problem:

• My anti-virus software (AVG) recognized pd.exe as a threat and asked me if I wanted to block it. Might it be stopping the pd window from appearing? I disabled AVG and ran pd.exe as Administrator, but it didn't seem to make a difference.

• After installing pd-extended the readme file suggested I run the script to update the registry; did this affect things?

• When I run wish84.exe manually, it opens two windows; one of which has a prompt. If I try to run pd.exe in this window (by typing: pd.exe), it seems to hang indefinitely.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your advice.

I've tried both the vanilla version (which comes with wish84.exe) and the pd-extended version (wish85.exe). Both have the same problem for me unfortunately.
