I'm running two separate instances of PD in order to utilise both GEM windows as I have the GUI for a monome on one and then a (very basic) graphic accompaniment on the other. An attempt at digital harmony. My problem is that I need to get lists from the monome patch of midi note numbers dynamically as they change and receive them in the graphics display patch.

I have been using [udpsend] to successfully send other data between the patches but these are 8 discrete floats and are taking up one UDP port each. I also need to send 8 variable floats and wondered if it's easier to set up 8 more UDP connections or if I can send this info as a list. The former seems like it should be wrong but I can't for the life of me figure out the help patch and translate it to my work.

    Any pointers much appreciated.

Hi if anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it. I'm running pd extended and when I try to get ccv to send tuio messages to pd using tuio dispatcher help file the error message "could not connect to usd port 3333" is displayed. I've just switched from pc to mac and had it working on pc. Not sure if this is a simple bit of lost in translation happening here but if anyone can shed any light or point me in the right direction I'd be really thankful.

    Cheers

I'm using the TUIO dispatcher help patch to fix this bug because despite thinking i'd fixed my "could not bind to usd port 3333" problem I actually haven't. Pd keeps crashing even when I'm only using TUIO dispatcher help patch to receive and print TUIO messages from Community Core Vision. After it crashes I re-open Pd and then get the "Could not bind message". I have to restart my mac to get it listening to the port again. Is this a problem with the way I've done something (i.e. file path problems) or could it be a problem with mac pro or specifically OS X 10.8.2????????

Never had this problem when performing same task on my old pc and thats a heap so I don't know what gives. Is there anyone on here rocking a pro and the latest OS X? If so just a reassurance that it works for you would be helpful since then I can stop blaming the mac and get to the heart of the matter.

I'm super cereal you guys, this is for my final degree project and I'm pretty desperate for some help. I'm pretty new to all this so please excuse any inadvertent ignorance or nubery that I might be displaying.

    Cheers

Gotcha. Nice one. Will try it although think I may have resolved the issue with Gromit's solution. That was until PD weirded out and stopped computing audio for no reason I can see. When I figure out what I've goofed up I'll see.

That's great stuff. I really enjoy the process of learning PD the hard way and trying to figure stuff out for yourself but sometimes there is no substitute for being shown by someone who knows what's up, especially after a couple of all night PD sessions lead to no solution. I'm designing a NIME for my MA final project this year so this is really helpful and don't be too surprised if I'm back quite often asking similar queries. Thanks again for the help.

    Thanks for the responses guys.

shawnb, What is the object for use with MIDI CC? Never heard of it before.

Gromit, Thanks for the example. I'm having a go at including this in my patch today and will let you know the results.

    Cheers.

Well it works and does more or less exactly what I hoped so that's great. I fear that most of it is a little over my head as a relative beginner. So unless you fancied adding a few explanations or notes or something then it's going to take serious time for me to learn how to adapt it. That's cool though. Part of the learning curve. Only question I have right now that's a little urgent is this; how would I adjust the length of time it takes to slide between notes?

    Cheers.

Thanks coloscope. Gonna take me a while to get my head round that. I'll get back to you when I do. Much appreciated though.

Hey guys. Just wondering if anyone got round this problem in the end? It's certainly causing me to scratch my head. Very little discussion on this matter on the forum at all. SAD FACE.
