I am new to Pd, having some encouraging feeling successes, and some totally frustrating FAILS with no understanding why.

1. I am trying to save plain .txt as .pd, just like all the forms say,only to get "error"
pd does not like the X it seems. how does one save these .txt as working .pd?

2. I am trying to use the 'fiddle" object to do pitch to midi. I dl the only .pd I could find http://www.imartron.com/pd/rep2/rep2.shtml (again, how does one save .pd from .txt on a mac??)

I have the audio from my soundcard adc~ 1 as the inlet, and it works.
the midi out test works
I see midi activity on my midi hub when I set the outlet to noteout , but it does not get any response from my synth. any idea how one sets things like midi channels etc? this synth response to just about any midi data you throw at it, and the hub confirms its coming out, soooo.......

I did try a few browser based options to save the patches posted as text, that one needs to copy>paste>save.
I finally found saving and emailing plain .txt to myself, and saving as .pd when I dl. these .pd files run!
something mac finder does when it resaves as .pd screws it up.

and I am guessing [pd midi] is some sort of yoke table created just for the tests.
I checked the Rafael Hernandez video tutorials, and he used [noteout 1] for midi out ch1, and that seems to be doing what it should
