Do you (/does anyone) know if there is a software available somewhere that can send the HID data to PD?

Hi, I am trying to use the leap motion controller with pure data (64bit) on a windows computer. I found an external (here: https://github.com/jmmmp/Pd_Leapmotion_win), but it only offers a version for 32bit and I can't really figure out how to compile it for my system (I have no experience in compiling externals). So I was wondering if anyone here already compiled it for win-64bit and might be able to share the needed files?

No, I am not involved there. Thanks for the info

    Hi,

I am trying to connect a USB Quizz Buzz Controller to Pure Data Vanilla (0.52.1, 64bit) and I found some older Posts on hid / hidin /joystick objects, but I guess they do not work anymore. So, is there any way to directly receive the input of my controller in PD?

    Thanks

    Hi everyone,

I have a patch that I created on windows using comport to communicate with an arduino. I wanted to give the patch to a friend who is using Mac. Now, the problem is that he cannot find comport in the external installer. So my question, is there comport for Mac or what's the alternative?

    Thanks
    Andy

Does this patch still exist somewhere? Can anyone re-upload?

Hey nicnut, thanks for the reply. I don't really understand the problem, but all I had to do was to use the other HDMI port to make audio work.

Thanks for the Patchbox suggestion. Now my PD Patch is running without a problem so far. But with the Patchbox OS I had a hard time getting any sound on the 3.5 output on the Raspi 4. But this kind of solved the problem: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=263942

Thanks for the reply, I already have comport, the problem is that I don't know how to control a digital output from PD.

Basically the same, but insted of an external card I am using the onboard sound right now, with no input device. Maybe I will try to use an external card as well....

    Hello,

I have problems using PD on a Raspberry Pi 3B+ with Raspbian. I downloaded the newest version of Raspbian to a SD card and installed PD using
    sudo apt install puredata.
When I open a patch from the help files it is working fine, but when I open a patch that I prepared earlier, even though it opens up, when I turn on the DSP it crashes. In the console it says:

    restart alsa output
    alsa xrun recovery apparently failed
pd: pcm.c:1168: snd_pcm_prepare: Assertion 'pcm' failed.
    Pd: signal 6

And while opening PD the console writes: priority 8 scheduling failed.
In the PD window it says: priority 6 scheduling failed: running at normal priority.
I don't know if that might be important, too.

Any ideas what might cause PD to crash and what the console messages mean`?

Hello, thank you for the quick response. But is it possible to only use the comport external, or do I have to use the whole PD extended package?

    Hello,
is there anything like pduino that works with vanilla, or can anyone tell me how I can control digital outputs with pd vanilla?

    Thanks,

I figured out the part with the loop function, if anyone might have a similar question. Basically I used a timer to count the time between inputs and used pack to combine one note value with the time value. Then I used the text object to write the Data as lists into a textfile. To play back the loop I just reversed the action and used delay to reverse the timer part.

Any suggestions for part 2 of my question?

    Hello,

I am working on a Sound Installation for a special Education School. The Installation is going to be located in the Snoezel Room (a room with a soothing and stimulating environment). So the basic Idea is, that you can press a button (or another input device like IR ... still working on this) and then a "Star" (Led lights at the ceiling) turns on and a corresponding sound is heard. The light is supposed to fade together with the sound. To be able to achieve this I want tu use a Bela that runs a PD Patch and controls the LEDs. So right now I am still working on the basic Patch, that has to be PD Vanilla (because of Bela). Right now I am working with 8 "Stars" and when you press a button (right now on a midi Controller) it starts an ADSR Envelope that controls a Bandpass Filtered noise sound. You can chose different scales like Overtones, Pentatonic, .... . Additionaly I have added atmospheric sounds like water and waves/wind to create a soothing atmosphere. What I want to do now (and where I do not know how to achieve this) is:

    1. I would like to integrate a Loop Function, that saves all the Input Data (Numbers and the Time when they are triggered). It should start to record the Data when the first Sound is triggered and then when there was no Input for a certain threshold (like 5 - 10 sec) it should play back the recorded Data in a Loop.

    2. For the Atmosphere I also would like to add a soothing tonal drone that fits the Sound of the Scale of the Resonating Noise. I tried something with a phasor~ an long attack and release and a bit of filtering ... but it really does not sound good and soothing now. Any suggestions on how to get an atmospheric soothing slowly changing drone like tonal sound would be of big help!

    Hello,

I am currently planning a Soundinstallation, where I want to track people individually and play back sounds according to the position. So what I was thinking is that I could use BLE Beacons that are located on the walls, get the data on a smartphone and also use a PD Patch thats running on the smartphone to play back and fade the sounds according to the position.

To start I would like to test how exact the localization with beacons would be. So does anyone know how to get started with this? How do I get beacon data into Pure Data?

    Hello,

I am currently working on a sound installation for a school. I programmed a prototype in MAX that I want to do in PD (Vanilla) now, because it is supposed to run on Bela. For the sound creation I am working with a Noise OSC and reson~. But there is no object like this in PD Vanilla. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to create it?
