    Hi all -

I've just made a simple sampler/recorder patch that I'd like to enhance in a few ways and was wondering if anyone would care to give some advice?

First, I'd like to play and record samples for longer than I'm currently able to do - would I use sfread/write?
Secondly, I'd like to have the bandpass filters as a separately controlled option rather than an integral part of the chain.

Thirdly, it'd be cool to include gain input and volume meters ....and then wrap the whole patch into a funky little abstraction box.

All of which seems - on the face of it - to be fairly elementary stuff...but it's causing me much headscratching and cursing..so any and all help/advice would be gratefully received!

    Thanks!

    Hi everyone -

I'm new to the forum & to pd so......

What I'm trying to do is make a simple audio player that will play and loop files and samples and also possibly vary the speed and/or other manipulations.
I know this is a pretty basic patch, but the examples in the manual leap straight into scratching effects, etc without really covering the basics enough for me.

Can anyone suggest ways in which I may go about making such a patch>?

I've had a stab at a patch which just plays files from a location on your hard drive...but then quickly get a bit lost with making it do anything more interesting :)

    All suggestions welcome..

    Thanks!

    Cheers for the GUI hints...

I'm still a bit unsure about how my filter and gain objects operate outside of the chain though..

If I make something like this: [toggle] - [*~] - [filter info or vol slider] - [?]...what's the last step to get it into the dac?

I'm only familiar at this stage with message signals like send/receive....would I use throw/catch for audio signals? Or is it more blindingly simple than that? :)

    Once again....ta for the advice.
