Is this possible at the same time? I'd like to trigger recording from a serial device (it's a button box based on a Guilderfluke controller) and play back a video at the same time. I've got pd and Gem running on WinXP, and have live video input and output working well. Can anyone point me to an example patch that will let me record short clips?

I am having a host of difficulties with GEM...first, I've installed 0.90.1, but when I launch PD, the messages still say:
GEM: ver: 0.87+cvs
Also, whenever I try to launch any of the example patches, PD crashes.
Where do I start? I just want to record some video from my Hauppage winTV.... -

I can not get any audio output from pd under os x. I've tried several different versions, but nothing works. Audio works fine with max/msp. Here is what shows up in the terminal:
~ ergo$ /Applications/Pd.app/Contents/Resources/bin/pd; exit
Could not create format converter: error = 0x666D743F = 'fmt?'
PaOSX_OpenCommonDevice: PAOSX_DevicePropertyListener failed.
: error = 0x666D743F = 'fmt?'
Error number -10000 occured opening portaudio stream
Error message: Host error.

Suggestions? TIA,

I'm doing something similar, but I'm very new at this. So far: pd and Gem are running well on WinXP. I am able to view video input (capture card is a Hauppage WinTV PVR 150- I had to install VDIG to make it work). I have a Guilderfluke controller with buttons on it, and I want to play and record a key/fill when I press a button. I'm looking for an example patch that will show me how to record video from my capture card, and how to trigger recording from a button press.
