(new to PD)

I created an instrument in PD and I loaded an image of that instrument into another patch using GEM. I want this image to be the "interface" for the instrument, to which I can assign objects, etc.

However, when I want to create objects in the GEM window, it doesn't let me. What am I doing wrong?

Can I load an image into GEM and use it as a background for another PD patch?

I have a composition done in Logic Express and I now want to send my MIDI notes from Logic to PD. I have created an instrument in PD and I want it to follow the MIDI written in Logic.
How do I do that?
