Is it possible to write an incremental audio file name automatically?
So, say I have a patch which is set to record an audio file to my desktop automatically that I want to call "test_01.aiff", is it possible to set it so that the next recording becomes "test_02.aiff" followed by "test_03.aiff" and so on, so that it's not overwriting one file continuously?

Pure Data running with Qjackctl under Ubuntu 9.10 on a Thinkpad T40
I get consistent DIO Errors in Pd - "A/D/A Sync" every few seconds causing audio drop outs.
I've tried all sorts of combinations of frame/buffer rates etc. in Jack with no joy.
It seems that something in Pd doesn't like Jack but not sure what I need to tweak. Any ideas?
Many thanks in advance.

I'm trying to put together a patch where after a manual [bang], it records one minute of audio coming in from the adc~ and then automatically plays the recording back.
I've looked at [soundfiler] and [tabread] but am unclear on how to write a recording directly into [soundfiler]. The examples I've seen deal with writing data or opening pre-recorded audio files.
I'm sure I'm on the right track, just getting myself confused....

Hi
I'm trying to find out if there is an object that acts like an audio version of the [gate] i.e. one audio input which can be thrown to multiple outputs controlled via a bang to determine the output channel.
Kind of like a reverse [mux~] I guess?
Thanks

Does anyone know of a good approach to obtaining a violin like sound using a combination of different oscillators?
I'm trying various combinations of square and sine waves but I evidently need something more complex to get near the sound of a bowed string.
Any suggestions as to a good place to start?

Is it possible to make a patch in Pd that recognises the start of an incoming audio and translate that into a midinote or a bang?
I'm thinking specifically of a contact mic plugged into the audio-in of a laptop. When the contact mic is knocked, it triggers the patch via a bang.
Any suggestions? adc~ into mtof seems logical perhaps?

Another simple one that is currently escaping me.
Is it possible to attach the output from an audio object to a send object? I have an untidy patch where it would be useful to route the end of an audio signal to elsewhere, but obviously you can't link a signal outlet to a control inlet.
What the audio equivalent of a send object?

Silly question... what object is the reverse of [spigot~]?
[spigot~] has one input which can be thrown to one of two outputs using a toggle swtich.
Is there an object that can take two incoming audio streams and allow you to switch between them to one output?

I have an old but functioning Mac G3 Powerbook running OS 9.2.
Rather than it being consigned to being obsolete, I'd like to get some very simple Pd patches running on it.
Does anyone have any truly ancient versions of Pd that run under 9.2 lurking anywhere they'd care to post (or know of any legacy stuff still up online anywhere?)

Hi
When I try and run Pd under Debian Lenny via Qjackctl, I get a constant DIO error "A/D/A sync" which causes a momentary audio drop out.
Any idea what I need to fix to stop this?
Thanks
