    Hey guys.
Ive made a patch where i have 5 cube objects translated to different points on the axis. However the problem I'm having is that when I use the rotate object they don't rotate around the center of origin, they rotate around the axis. Is there a way to assign different points for their center of rotation? so even if i translate them to different points of the axis they can rotate as if they are rotating at the center of origin. I've been racking my brain on it for too long.. dont know what to do

I hope I'm making sense. Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards,
    Bilal

Hey guys im using the midirealtimein object to get a midi sync signal off reason 7 onto Pure Data. I'm using the IAC buses to link them up. So far ive been successful enough to get midi notes from reason 7 onto Pure data though Notein object linked with the IAC Bus 1. I created another IAC Bus for the midi sync and set the midi clock out onto IAC Bus 2. For some reason it doesnt seem to be working. I tried it with IAC Bus 1 as well, but no midisync data seems to be coming in to pure data. Is there something im doing wrong?

Hey guys. I've been successful with fiddling around with shapes in GEM, and ive discovered some new tips and tricks. There is one thing that i cant figure out. For instance if i have a cube in the middle of gemwin, how can i cast shadows for the cube onto the floor for instance? For starters how do i build a room where i can place that object in? The whole point of me trying to do this is so i can have a shadow underneath the object like on a floor or something, so it gives the feeling the shape is floating. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Hey guys, I'm working on this project where im assigning some midi values on to GEM, but i cant seem to find a way to extract polyphonic values?for instance, if i hold a chord, i want to be able to have number boxes showing velocity and pitch for each of those notes held. Also, im using the [seq] object to loop midi files. is there a way i could extract the info off those midi loops as well (the same way i could extract it off a midi controller)? Im specifically talking about Piano Roll Midi files. Any help would be appreciated, I'm a complete beginner to PD.

    Cheers

Hey guys, I'm working on a proposal for my major project this year, and i decided to use PD to make an A/V patch according to my specifications. The idea is to make elements for music making such as, drums, synth and maybe a sampler and sync these elements to some sort of visuals generator in GEM.

All the parameters placed on a drum machine should have a direct effect on the outcome of the visuals. For example, the pitch, attack and decay knobs on the kick of the drum machine should be able to manipulate certain parts of the visuals, maybe add some different filtering? or change in colors and shapes? gravity?

To build a decent proposal, i had to look into similar projects and this is what I've found so far which comes to close to what i want to do.

    1. Z game editor Visualizer
    2. Tons of PD patches that sorta similar, but not entirely.
    3. Touch Designer
    4. Screen Monkey

Most of these apps are used for ready made video loops and to control lighting and stuff. Can anyone add something else to this list? list anything that comes even close to my idea.

p.s im very new to pd and this community, so i humbly apologize for posting something in the wrong section or if I'm making no sense :S. but any help will be greatly appreciated :)

    @mod said:

but don't get your hopes up too much. I have never had any luck getting a tight midi clock sync to or from pd. It's always been really jittery and basically unusable.

Might be better using Jack for midi or something, i dunno.

anyway, yeah, not easy. I think that's why you don't see any midi clock examples in any of the help docs.

midiin object? will that help me sync the two platforms? basically i'm trying to get a metronome count from reason which could help be bang different messages for different camera angles in GEM. I dont want a solid sync, at this point anything would work. Also does the midiin object carry a mtc with it? And when you say jack do you mean a hardware based midi input from a soundcard or something.. that is my final option, but it'd be super simple if i can get a midiclock within my laptop.

    thanks for the help though
