Hey all I'm trying to find a way to easy retrieve different keys (AMajor etc) and modes (Dorian etc) for my computer piano player to play. I'm thinking maybe some sort of qlist, though I've not tinkered with this object much yet.

Basically I want to be able to click a button and it'll automatically change key/mode/both.

Any ideas? Cheers!

I should also say that I don't want it to scale up or down, I just want to use the notes in the scale. The piano player I made plans random notes in a scale, so I want to keep to that theme

The way I did it, was to store each mode in a different array (e.g. [array define -k ionian 12] [array define -k dorian 12] [array define -k phrygian 12] ). Then I used [ array get ] to find which position in the scale I needed. if you only store the intervals (distance between the notes, 0-12) in the arrays, then you just add your root note the position in the scale. I used a pretty hefty abstraction to store all the names for the scales though, hold on, i'll post it for you.

Legend, thanks man. That patch looks Hella complex, but I'll try build it by just copying each bit. Should give me a bit more understanding. Only just started.

Got one working using lists and an array, and using a HRadio to select the mode, I just copied someone else's patch tho Haha. Don't have the wherewithal to do it from scratch yet.

I am interested now in implementing octave changes too, I know that on the MIDI note chart notes are 10 numbers apart for each octave, so it should come down to some pretty simple maths to get that working. Still trying to figure it out in my head tho lol.
