I downloaded the PD version pd-0.37.4.dmg from the url http://puredata.info/Members/hans/downloads/installers/ but after dragging the Pd.app icon of the image file into my applications folder it just opens the terminal when cklicking the icon. I'm running Mac OSX 10.3.5. Has anybody out there an idea how to solve this problem or knows another version that works well under OSX?

There have been a few slightly messed up osx installers for pd, I strongly recomend deleting all your pd and tclk stuff and finding another installer. One problem I came across was the installer making 2 instances of the "wish" app. This caused my mac to lose all my audio ins and outs... including the internal speakers!!!
If this happens to you the only way I found to sort it out was to run a system update from the OSX update panel. It doesn't seem to matter what you install as long as it requires a system restart. I am assuming this zaps your PRAM and gets core to re-initialize itself. I would point you in the direction of a good installer package, but I can't for the life of me remember what one worked in the end. There is one out there though, and it runs on my 500mhz laptop very well now. -
umm, look, i am running pd installed via http://puredata.info/Members/hans/downloads/installers/ .....and it works fine.
there is a track on this forum that will attest to that fact.
...but yeah, i will agree...if nothing works, then the only option is to delete EVERYTHING, and then redo the installation.
if you follow the readme / installation file instructions to the letter, then you won't go wrong -
Do I need this Tcl/Tk for running PD on my mac. I searched my computer for this Tcl/Tk but nothing was found. Could anybody tell me what this Tcl/Tk is used for? And do I have to install it seperatly or is it included in OSX or in PD? Sorry for this stupid Newbie Questions, but if anyone can answer these I would be very thankful.

if you get really stuck, try the new experimental version...it's pretty buggy on my machine, but just a simple point and click installation.

if you really need tcktc, you can get it here:
http://tcltkaqua.sourceforge.net/ -
... Oh, I forgot, it helps if you have the OSX dev tools installed too, must be some terminal shit that requires the extra libraries.
You need tcltk. -
try downloading this version at:

I had loads of trouble trying to get the other version to work under tcltk (and gave up), this one works under Terminal which should be in your utilities folder on osx
