Probably something simple and important I am missing.

Audio from DAC~ to earphones sounds great, no issues there.

Same audio is sent to writesf~ in order to make a wav file, or an aiff. (I've tried both.) open WAV file, in any other program, sounds quiet, no bass or mids...really just the higher frequencies....almost all information is lost. in any case, sounds nothing like what is coming straight from the DAC~.

Oh dear, I figured it out. My patch is so messy I forgot to connect everything to writesf~...a couple sound sources were buried under cables....grumble grumble...

@Cihahb I used to have very messy patches. This would lead to several wasted hours of frustrating debugging. One quick tip would to always tidy-up you patches as you make them and remember that the order of logic is usually top-to-bottom, and right-to-left.

Well, I also forget things after a day or two.

One thing that I find useful is to chunk the patch, into sections, using a very thin vertical or horizontal canvas, sometimes colour-coded. This simplifies both creating and understanding the patch later.
