Yes it is possible. I have developed a project that does exactly that, so for procedural gaming audio fans, I encourage you to go and get it at https://github.com/Magicolo/uPD.

There is a list of features listed in the README file a list of things I don't know how to accomplish such as Android/Web compatibility, so anyone who has insight on these would be very helpful. Also, if you find any bugs or have any suggestions post them here; I am very actively developing the tool.

@Magicolo Hey Magicolo, thanks for posting this. I'm trying to break into the #altgame scene as a composer/sound designer and am trying to get programmers/designers interested in the possibilities of dynamic sound with PD.

I've also found this plug-in, despite which the devs I've contacted are still somewhat intimidated by the idea of integrating PD: https://github.com/patricksebastien/libpd4unity

Of course, non of them have tried it yet. Since I'm not a programmer, my hope is to make PD patches with clearly defined input and output values and pass them onto a Dev who knows how to incorporate libPD. I'll pass on your plug-in in the future as well.

uPD~ was made with musicians and programmers in mind as I am myself both of these. Designers that are used to the Pure Data workflow will find it quite easy to build sound or music patches that can be easily triggered within Unity (very low scripting knowledge required). On top of that, I've built a few very useful tools to simplify even more the musician's life. This includes a Wwise-like container logic integration and a step sequencer that uses special 'Instrument' patches.

It is to note that I haven't been developing uPD~ for a few months mostly because of compatibility issues (Android, iOS, and Web) that I have trouble solving.

Anyway, you should definetly try it out and give me your feedback. I know there's not a lot of documentation/tutorial for now but you can get started by following my Quick Tutorial on GitHub and by exploring the methods of the PureData class.

Your projects are very intresting.
I lately checked out uPD, that is superd project, looking for a way to establish a simple communication between a simple pd patch and Unity.
After that, I run into LibPd4UnityTools, that looked exactly what I needed, but couldn't run it.
I loaded as a project and run / play it (the example scene) but I got error saying "all compiler errors must be fixed" to all the scripts.
I use a win 8.1 64-bit pc, and the latest version of unity (5.1.1 - 32bit)

My LibPd4UnityTools project was my first attempt at integrating Pure Data with Unity and I haven't updated it in a while. I would suggest using uPD~ as it is much more complete and stable. uPD~ offers the same functionality that was present in the LibPd4UnityTools with much more (efficiency, containers, step sequencer, mixer, etc.). There is one major difference though: LibPd4Unity still used Unity's audio engine by sending the output of Unity's audio sources to Pure Data, while uPD~ loads, plays and spatializes audio all within Pure Data. To note that the later is much more flexible, efficient and Pure Data friendly.

If you read my uPD~ quick start guide on Github, you'll be able to get up and running pretty easily (https://github.com/Magicolo/uPD). If there's an error that's preventing you from using uPD~, report it here and I'll try to fix it in a timely manner.

I am aware of uPD~ and I was really amazed! I run the examples succesfully but I wasn 't able to figure out how was really working. That's why I was looking for a more step-by-step, simple way, to understand every piece of code in order to have full control and functionallity of my project.
Anyway, summer is coming, I have all the time to deconstruct uPD~ and find my steps.

As I can understand, uPD enhances Unity with Pure Data engine, meaning that audio is compiled inside libpd inside Unity.
So PureData.Play(); PureData.PlayContainer(); etc are "scripts and methods" that tells libpd to play a sound, use a container (I don't know what this is but anyway) and the audio enhine is pure data. These "scripts and methods" have nothing to do with a pd patch or they control the patches that are in ../StreamingAssets/Patches.. folder. If it is the second, then I must not mesh up the "../StreamingAssets/Patches.." folder. meaning that if I delete something from that folders, some of the "scripts" (ex. PureData.Play("mplamplampla",sth, int, etc);) won't work.
Are all the above true or false?
And a second question please....:
The documentation does not explain is that, if I have my simple patch, something like

Where do I place the patch is the projects file system?

I've just downloaded Unity Personal but I can't do much. You might have to be patient with me, as I am unfamiliar with Unity.

When I import the uPD Unity Package File, I receive the notification, "API Update Required": "This project contains scripts and/or assemblies that use obsolete APIs. [...]" The automatic upgrade doesn't seem to work. Is this supposed to happen or have I done something incorrectly? The console contains this message:
Assets/Magicolo/GeneralTools/Extensions/AudioClipExtensions.cs(27,55): warning CS0618: UnityEngine.AudioClip.Create(string, int, int, int, bool, bool)' is obsolete:The _3D argument of AudioClip is deprecated. Use the spatialBlend property of AudioSource instead to morph between 2D and 3D playback.'

I found myself unable to do anything else in the tutorial:
-I'm not sure what making a listener means, though I did click the button to toggle the audio on.
-There is no "Tools" folder in the "Magicolo" folder under "Assets". There are "AudioTools", "EditorTools" and "GeneralTools", but none of these contain a "Create" folder.
-Again, I can't find the PureData.Play file - only a PureDataPlay.cs file under "Audio Tools".

I'm surely doing something(s) wrong and would be greatful for every tip.
