I've just bought a Novation AudioHub 2x4 with 2 inputs and 4 outputs, and it works fine in all other applications (i.e., stereo 1 & 2 and stereo 3 & 4 routed separately). However, in PD I'm only getting the output from dac~ 1 2 coming through the interface. I've set the audio settings to 4 channel out, and have tried various combinations with the inputs but am not using them anyway.

Strangely, what happens is that when 2 channels are enabled in audio settings it sends dac~ 1 2 through the interface and does nothing with dac~ 3 4 (as would be expected), but when I set it to 4 channels in audio settings, dac~ 1 2 goes through the interface and dac~ 3 4 comes out of my laptop speakers. There must be some problem with routing these two extra channels but I just can't find any information on it or figure it out.

Solved.

Apparently, portaudio is required for multichannel operations but this doesn't work too well in the version of Pd I was using, so I upgraded to the latest version and switched from MMIO to ASIO. Basic issue, but it had me stumped for a few hours.
