I just try to use envgen with message boxes (ie like it is not GUI), and I have to said I find quite difficult.
the most difficult thing is that the user had to understand the messages syntax by himself : there are nothing indicated in the help patch.
moreover, this help patch present some method ([sustain 1000] and [release ]) where I don't see any change...

what we can do ? how to modify the help patch ?
this will be really helpful for example :
[0 50 1 50 >
0 : yvalue for the first point (t=0 inevitably)
50 : take 50ms to go to next point
1 : yvalue for a second poin
50 : go to the last point (O inevitably) in 50 ms

finally, this syntax is quite hard to get because it is not the same as in line~ or vline~ objects.

You're not alone.
You can use the following patch to control motion. Not exactly what you're looking for, perhaps, but there you go...
This controls the motion of selected (red) dots.
