I don't think it is possible, [k_vst~] is a very old and unmaintained code. What I do is route my VST to PD using Jack. For running the VST on Linux, I use http://festige.sourceforge.net, but hopefully I will switch to KxStudio / Carla soon: http://kxstudio.sourceforge.net/Applications:Carla#Interface

Oh, I didn't realize that page was so old! Indeed EEight's recommendation of routing the sound out and then back in seems to be the best then, it will make life much easier!

@EEight I just started messing around with Carla, and it is amazing, thanks for the suggestion! I still didn't figure out how to deal with MIDI from Pd in Carla since it only shows audio inputs and outputs, but I should be missing something simple here. Really fantastic application!
