If Pd only crashes when you run [plugin~] then perhaps you should update or recompile [plugin~].
If it's a problem with the plugins themselves, which I had once and fixed by removing all old plugins and saying
apt-get install swh-plugins tap-plugins cmt
it adds the main collections
swh-plugins - Steve Harris's LADSPA plugins
tap-plugins - Tom's Audio Processing LADSPA plugins
cmt - Computer Music Toolkit (cmt) a collection of LADSPA plugins
I'm not sure what package management Studio To Go uses exactly, in the FAQ it says "Studio to Go! is also mostly compatible with the Debian stable package repositories, for upgrade using more traditional Debian Linux methods."
I would ask on the STG forums if I were you and see what packages might have been updated apropos Pd, LADSPA and ALSA. It's got non-redistributable and binary content so it's possibly more complicated than getting it to work with VST and
LADSPA than with either one alone.
Good luck.
btw, What's the Sonic Visualiser like?
