Hi guys,

really in need of some advice,

ive currently got a pd patch sending out midi notes with makenote -> noteout,
various notes are being sent out on different channels,
i want a nice software synth where you can pick different instruments for each midi channel in.

tried using FM8 native instruments and absynth but cant seem to find any way to do this,

can you suggest any downloadable synths or a way to do this??

Can you not open multiple instances of them and just have them reading on different channels?

im not sure, im really not very experienced with software synths, does that mean simply opening multiple windows?

i need to be able to save it all as one so that if i open pd and the synth it will always be transmitting to the same instruments, if that makes any sense

It might be easier to load a DAW with a synth for each track. Then you can set the track to read on its own MIDI channel, and you can also save the session so each track has its own synth preset (as well as any synth you prefer; you're not limited to just one). Plus, you also have a mixer, which will likely be better and more flexible than a multi-channel synth, anyway.

I would like to do something similar but I'm still not entirely sure how to do this:

I'd like to have a MIDI in note coming in from the keyboard and have the same note be played on multiple (2 or 3) timbres/patches such as one piano and one orchestra. I think I need to use a separate MIDI channel for each timbre/patch.

Is there a tutorial on this that you recommend? Is this something that can be done in PD? And are there any patches that you recommend?

I currently have MIDI notes coming in from the keyboard and playing sounds from ZynAddSubFX just so you know where I'm currently at.
