Is anybody aware of a working wave terrain synthesis patch in pure data?

I made a prototype of one when I first started using PD. I made functions of 2 variables using cosines and tanh and stuff.
I didn't think the results were very promising. I don't think there's a way to map the user-adjustable parameters to the equations in a perceptually relevant way. The sound isn't really different from other forms of distortion synthesis. It's just impossible to control.
