I am new to the forum and wanted to post a question here. I am an audio engineer and not a programmer, so I have very little basic knowledge of PD. Seems quite interesting, but I haven't really taken the time to dive in.

I have a flutist who is performing a piece that is controlled by PD. I have used it once before years ago in a live setup, but I must have gotten lucky. All the MIDI has to do is trigger the next event in the chain.

I feel as if I have lost the correct MIDI values and can't seem to locate them in my notes. If I upload the patch, can someone look at this and tell me what the control value for my MIDI board should be?

To the best of my knowledge, I think it should be : MIDI note: 60, Velocity 64. There is a strip note function that I think triggers a control code (no idea what this value should be) and then bangs the next event.

Is this correct?

The only MIDI object in your patch is [ctlin 64] in the [pd sequencer] subpatch. But the one you uploaded is also missing some abstractions, so there may be other places in the whole patch.

If you go to the Find menu and select Find... (or Ctrl+F) you can search for MIDI object to find what you're looking for. Search for "ctlin" to find objects that take cc messages, and the first argument will be the cc number. So if it's [ctlin 64], that controller 64. If there is more than one argument, the second one will be the channel. Search for "notein" to find where noteons/noteoffs are being received. The argument for that will just be the channel, so you'll have to make some sense of the objects following it to see which notes are being used and what they are doing.

Also, make sure you set up your MIDI device in the MIDI Settings... dialog under the Media menu (or it might be the Pd menu in OSX, I can't remember).
