I'm trying to apply ring modulation to a speech sample I've recorded.
I have been able to get the sample to play but now can't find out how to apply the oscillator to it. Can anyone help or make suggestions as to what to do next please?
I've tried to hook up the oscillator to the output of of the dac~ but it doesnt work that way. Where is it that I should put it so that it will effect the sound before it is outputted???

Hi Xaph8,
your sampleplayer output should be connected to the ring mod input and the ring mod output to the dac~. Dac is the digital to analog conversion of the audio signal and it's always placed at the end of the dsp chain.

Ring mod just requires [*~ ]. Take a look at 3.audio.examples -> E02.ring.modulation.pd in the help browser.

Hey thank you for your help!! I've managed to do it all now but still have a small problem.

I have recorded my sample using writesf~ and it has successfully created a new .wav file on my desktop. It doesn't play back any audio though...
I know that it has definitely picked up something though cause when I open it in quicktime it has the 12seconds (length of my sample) and it plays but it just doesn't produce any sound...

I've done this as well earlier and pressed start and stop when I want it to do so but it only recorded the last 2 seconds of my sample... There was an audio signal though.

I dont really know what I did to resolve this but I definitely have connected the msgs in order... open file.wav, start then stop.
compute audio is also on so its not that....

So the problem I have now is not the recording time; when to start and stop etc.. but actually getting the sound file that [open. file.wav] has created to play back audio.

Arghghg I have a pd headache hahah

about the recording issue: with this subpatch it should work now

why do you apply the fx just to one channel? maybe just to test ... and why there are two dac objects? i deleted one from your patch...
